Window cleaning may seem like a simple, rudimentary task to many homeowners and business owners and it some aspects, it is. We’re blessed, at Clean Norfolk, to live in an area that is largely free from industrial pollution and in a climate that is generally dry – though cold in winter!
It’s a fact that British people are obsessed with the weather so it may be of interest to you to know that Norfolk is one of the driest counties in the UK, as well one of the flattest and sunniest. It’s why so many come here to the honeypots of north Norfolk, Georgian towns like Holt and Sheringham, and end up relocating.

We started off saying it may seem simple and we have a lot in our favour like the climate, but it’s a skilled job and one we’ve taken 7 years to learn and become experts in, if that doesn’t sound too pompous.
Let’s offer an analogy.
If you valet your car yourself, you’re unlikely to do as good or as quick a job as a mobile detailer. Someone who comes to your home and business, fully insured, trained and equipped is expected to do a much better job on the exterior and interior of your car, than you would on a Sunday morning.
Commercial window cleaning is similar to valeting and detailing in that it needs specialist cleaners and equipment, yet different. Cars are yet to be designed with 10 levels, whereas buildings – both residential and commercial – have these and often more!
We have equipment and the know how to reach a high row of windows on Granta Park in Cambridge. Norwich, our base, has similar challenges with residential towers like the ones on Rouen Road, Riverside and Westlegate. Other parts of Norwich and Norfolk are dotted with commercial buildings, like the Union Building for example, on Rose Lane that need some TLC.
In London, skyscrapers abound. There’s been some ingenious thinking too in architecture and design in one landmark tower – Norman Foster’s Gherkin, which you can see below.
The Gherkin cleverly features a device that slides out of a gap in the side of the building on rails, and can reach the windows above and below for easy cleaning. This also means there is no bulky access equipment on show that spoils the sleek aesthetic of the building, or more importantly, requiring specialist window cleaners to travel to dizzying heights.
In East Anglia, on the buildings we service, there is not that same level of innovation. Meaning instead we rely on robust and effective commercial windows cleaning equipment that we’ve invested heavily in to make customers happy.
Water-fed carbon poles make inaccessible places easier to reach from ground level and the expertise we have means windows are cleaned exceptionally well.
Can anyone clean windows on commercial buildings?
